Removal of toxic materials from the 300 metre chimney in Lippendorf power station
Manual deconstruction and removal of insulating materials in the cylindrical inner lining of the chimney stack, man-made fibres and insulating elements, in preparation for a controlled explosion.

Job description:
- All work completed in accordance with TRGS 519
- Covering of the chimney opening with a safety net to minimise dust
- Use of hand driven working seats (bosuns chairs) in conformance with BGI 772, and rope supported access technology, deconstruction and lowering of each individual element to the next platform
- Here they were transferred to a specially constructed high speed elevator in the interior of the chimney and lowered to a height of 3.7 metres
- The elements were then manually transported to containers
- Clearance measurement of the interior of the chimney
- Special factors: Close cooperation with the work safety department of the state government in Leipzig
- Daily controls by these authorities with regard to environmental and work safety
- Access to the top third of the chimney was only possible via external ladders
